Psalm 16

“You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing” (2). The closer the psalmist walked with the Lord, the more he realized that life outside God’s presence has “no good thing.” The idols of the world look great on the surface, offering us a false image of success and happiness, but the truth is that “those who run after other gods will suffer more and more” (4). The psalmist found real peace and satisfaction comes from fellowship with God: “You alone are my portion and my cup” (5).

“You make known to me the path of life” (11). God’s desire is to keep us from self-destruction and show us the path of abundant life with him.
