Luke 19-21

“Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (19:9-10). Jesus’ invitation to Zacchaeus shocked many people, since Zacchaeus was a known tax collector, made wealthy by corruption (19:2). Yet Jesus not only forgave Zacchaeus, he also told two parables about those who had the opportunity to be part of the kingdom but rejected the King (ch 19,20).

“My house will be a house of prayer” (19:46). Jesus rebukes those who tried to use God’s name for their own purposes, but for those like Zacchaeus who sincerely seek him, the door to the kingdom is open.
