Mark 11
/“Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” (10). As the Passover approached, it became more clear what kind of King Jesus was. He rode into Jerusalem on a humble donkey’s colt – rather than a war horse – and his priority was to reclaim the Temple as “a house of prayer for all nations” (17). Cursing the fig tree demonstrated his authority over all, even over the “chief priests, the elders, and the teachers of the law” (27) – men who were appointed to transmit knowledge of God but bore no spiritual fruit at all.
“By what authority are you doing these things?” (28). Following Jesus means accepting his reign in our lives – to evaluate and judge, to heal and to save.
