Psalm 27

"For in the day of trouble, he will keep me safe in his dwelling” (5). God’s people have always experienced trouble, and the psalmist knew that the safest place to live was in close fellowship with the Lord (3-5). He did not fear armies or attacks because God had become his refuge; the psalmist was protected and loved, even if abandoned by his earthly “father and mother” (10). Whatever his circumstances, the psalmist declared: “My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek” (8).

“Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (14). When we seek the Lord’s face in our time of trouble, we find he is more than sufficient.
