Proverbs 14
/“The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down” (v1). In Proverbs, “folly” and “foolishness” mean sinful choices. By making repeated choices to do the right thing and follow God’s ways, we construct a stable and fruitful life. When we continually indulge ourselves, take short cuts, and ignore God, we create a fragile, brittle, life that eventually crumbles (v12). God’s desire is our growth, our peace, and our joy, and His ways point us toward that.
“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death” (v27). God calls us to Himself, to faith and obedience, because He loves us.
