Psalm 66
/“We went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance” (v12). The psalmist looked back at Israel’s troubles and realized that God had never abandoned them; he had carried them through. They had been tested “as silver” (v10), and their faith had grown in the process. They could declare to the world, “Come and see what God has done” (v5), because they had a testimony of his faithfulness.
“But truly God has listened” (v19). The story of God’s people, our story, is that God is full of love and mercy and hears our prayers. He forgives, he saves, and he carries us into “a place of abundance.”
