Ezekiel 37-40

“And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live” (37:14).  Ezekiel saw a “valley of dry bones” in a vision, and he watched while God gave them flesh and sinews and finally breath – His Spirit.  Through Ezekiel, God was declaring that Israel could never fulfill its purpose as an ordinary nation with resources, identity, and boundaries; God’s people would only really live “when I pour our My Spirit on the house of Israel” (3:29).

Jew and Gentile both are “dry bones” - dead in our sins – without God’s Spirit.  Jesus came to bring life, “that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith” (Gal 3:14).
