I Peter 4-5

“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers” (v7-8).  Peter encouraged believers who were suffering persecution for the name of Christ to “rejoice,” resist evil, and remain faithful (v12-16).  He cautioned them not to return to sinful ways (v2-3), because judgment begins with the “household of God,” and our testimony must be credible (v17).  Our spiritual enemy is constantly looking for ways to destroy us, but we can resist (5:8:9).

As we lean on Christ during times of both temptation and persecution, we know that God Himself will “restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish” us for His glory (5:10).
