Hebrews 9-11
/“And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (10:10). “Once and for all” describes the permanence of what Jesus accomplished for us. Jewish believers were being urged to let go of the old system which re-enacted rituals of sacrifice, because Jesus’ death was “for all time” sufficient. Jesus’ holiness is so great that it “perfects” and purifies us: “By a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified” (10:14).
We receive what Jesus did for us by faith (11:1,6). We don’t live in our past sin, instead, by faith we go forward and welcome the “better country” God has promised (11:13-15).
