Job 41-42

“I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you” (42:5).  Job was transformed by his encounter with the Almighty.  Despite his many wild accusations and expressions of anger and pain, Job was not condemned in God’s presence.  Just as in the beginning, before his losses, God called him “my servant Job” (42:7) who speaks “what is right” about God.  And then, after all his suffering, God gave Job “twice as much” as he had before (v10).

We don’t always know why we experience pain.  But whether in this life or the next, we do know that our stories will end like Job’s, in victory and joy, in God’s presence.
