Isaiah 26-27

“In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; he sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks” (26:1).  God wanted Israel to be a light for salvation.  Despite the failures, setbacks, and even destruction by enemy forces, Isaiah declared that “in that day” – God’s perfect timing – “Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots and fill the whole world with fruit” (27:6).  Through the work of Christ, all the promises of God find their “yes” (2 Cor 1:20).

“O LORD, you will ordain peace for us, for you have indeed done for us all our works” (26:12).  The work of salvation is not Israel’s, or ours, but God’s alone.
