Genesis 24-25

“The thing has come from the LORD…Behold, Rebekah is before you” (24:50-51).  Abraham’s servant’s journeyed hundreds of miles to find the right bride for Isaac, because Abraham was determined to honor God.  God had called Abraham to be the father of a special people in a new land, and Isaac – the miraculous child of very old parents – was proof.  If Isaac married into the Canaanite tribes, this distinctive would be lost; he needed a wife chosen by God.
“Then I … blessed the LORD … who had led me by the right way” (24:48).  “The right way” sometimes seems like foolishness and even weakness, but in the end it is the power and wisdom of God (I Cor 1:25-27).
