John 20:1-18

Mary Magdalene and the disciples were initially distraught by the empty tomb. “For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead” (v9).  Mary wept inconsolably, unable to see Jesus through the tears, until he called her name.  She still had questions and didn’t fully comprehend the resurrection, but her hope was renewed in her encounter with the risen Jesus.

In the midst of the darkest experiences of life, the voice of Jesus brings peace to our hearts.  Though we may not understand everything immediately, his resurrection is a promise that all things will be right in the end.
