John 20:19-31
/“Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails” (v25). The disciples huddled in fear, unsure of where to turn, but Jesus broke through their walls, (literal and emotional), and declared “peace” (v19,21). Thomas could not bring himself to believe until the risen Lord was before his eyes, but when the evidence was incontrovertible, he became the first recorded person to call Jesus “My God.”
Though Thomas initially doubted, when confronted with the fact of Jesus, he leaped into faith. We too have moments of doubt and fear, but when Jesus enters the situation all we can do is respond in true worship, “My Lord and My God” (v28).
