John 4:43-54
/"Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe" (v48). Many times when Jesus was asked to perform a miracle, he hesitated or asked a question (John 2:4, etc). His questions provoked the faith of the petitioner, as when this father insisted, “Come down before my child dies” (v49). Jesus delighted in healing people, yet he also wanted the healing to be part of a faith encounter with him. When Jesus healed the sick boy with just a word, the father “believed, and all his household” (v53).
“The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him …” (v50). Our experience of God’s deliverance in a crisis moment should lead to deeper faith and trust in Him.
