I Corinthians 7:1-16

“But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another” (v7). Paul was content to be single and served God best that way. However, he acknowledged that for many, marriage was the best option (v1-2). While in singleness there was an expectation of celibacy, in marriage, Paul said that husbands and wives should not “deprive” each other (v5). In other words, married people should not live as if they were single; marriage includes a serious commitment to our spouse’s well-being – even when the partner is an unbeliever (v12).

“God has called you to peace” (v15). Whether married or single, God calls us to be faithful to His ways and to love each other sincerely.
