11 Samuel 7:1-17

“And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever” (7:16). When King David settled in Jerusalem, he wanted to build “a house” – a temple for worship – for the Lord.  Suddenly, however, God declared that His plans were much bigger than David imagined. David’s trajectory from the pasture to the throne was part of a much bigger goal: a “forever” kingdom that would be ruled by David’s descendent (v12-13).

“Your throne shall be established forever” (v16). By faith, David’s life became part of the great story of how God was building a “forever” kingdom – the same eternal kingdom, ruled by Jesus Christ, in which we have our citizenship.
