I Kings 15

“And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as David his father [ancestor] had done” (v11).  King Asa of Judah was remarkably determined to do what was right, even though his own parents were pagans.  Asa got rid of the idols and male religious prostitutes his father had tolerated, and he even “removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother because she had made an abominable image for Asherah” (v13).  Despite his upbringing, Asa knew what kind of king he wanted to be.

“The heart of Asa was wholly true to the Lord all his days” (v14).  Like Asa, we each choose our heart’s loyalty and how we will live out our days on earth.
