Hebrews 3-4
/“Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience” (11). Hebrews recounts how the ancient Israelites received the “good news” of God’s grace (4:2), but because of disobedience and lack of faith they lost God’s promised rest (v6). The author urges those who have heard the good news of Jesus not to make the same mistake, but instead to “hold fast” to Christ (v14), trusting that He sympathizes with our struggles (4:15).
Rather than turning our backs on God during difficult times, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (v16).
