Isaiah 4

“In that day the branch of the LORD shall be beautiful and glorious” (v2). Isaiah prophesied that Israel’s failures were not the end of God’s plan; a group of survivors “will be called holy” (v3). Isaiah saw both the near future – Israel’s defeat and the surviving remnant – and the distant future, when “the Branch” of Israel, Jesus Christ, would be sent by God to wash the sins of all humanity and make us holy (v4). God’s active presence among His people would be “a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain” (v6).

Our names are “recorded for life” in Zion when we put our trust in Jesus (v3). He washes away our failures and includes us in His “beautiful and glorious” family.
