Genesis 12

“Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation… and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (v1-3).  God called Abraham to leave behind the security of his “father’s house” and follow His voice to an unknown land.  God promised to make Abraham’s family prosper, and not only his family – “all the families of the earth.”  Somehow, Abraham’s obedience was part of God’s plan to bless the whole world.

“So Abram went …” (v4). Our obedience matters, because God wants to do His work both in us and through us to bless the world.
