Matthew 9:1-8

“Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven” (v2).  The paralyzed man came to Jesus for help with a physical problem.  In response to his sincere faith, Jesus granted even more – forgiveness and healing for his soul.  The religious leaders who saw the event were critical of Jesus and thought he was “blaspheming” (v3), or pretending to have divine authority.  While the suffering man had the faith and courage to reach out to Jesus, these physically healthy religious leaders were blind to the Man in front of them.

“Why do you think evil in your hearts?” (v4).  Pride can keep us from reaching out for help.  Jesus, full of love, is ready to heal, comfort, encourage, and forgive us.
