Psalm 67

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face to shine upon us …” (v1). The psalmist’s prayer was that God would bless Israel and shine on them so that “Your way may be known on the earth, your saving power among all nations” (v1). God’s favor on Israel was intended to spread God’s “way” – His righteousness, His love, His justice, His mercy – and His saving power to all nations. All the people of the earth would then praise the Lord (v5).

“Let the nations be glad” (v4). Whatever blessings we receive from the Lord are never just for ourselves, but to be shared, so that others will rejoice in the same great salvation.
