Proverbs 14

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” (v12).  We are skilled at self-deception; what “seems right” to us sometimes reflects our sinful desires, not God’s will.  But we can have “strong confidence” in the “fear of the Lord” (v26).  God has revealed His heart in Jesus Christ, and He is our source and standard for life. When we embrace Jesus’ call to love God and others, we are like the wise woman who builds her house instead of tearing it down (v1).

“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life …” (v27). Our own opinions and desires may lead us astray, but Jesus leads us to abundant life.
