Romans 4

“For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith” (v13). Paul taught the Roman church that God doesn’t change. By grace, He reached out to Abraham with amazing promises, and Abraham responded through faith. God’s promise (that Abraham’s family would multiply and bless the world) was based on grace through faith and “guaranteed to all his offspring” (v16) – everyone who, like Abraham, has faith in the God who has now revealed Himself in Jesus (v2-25).

Faith like Abraham’s means we are “fully convinced” that God in Christ forgives us, cleanses us, adopts us, and empowers us to live as His children.
