Genesis 39

“But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison” (39:21).  In Egypt, Joseph quickly rose to a high position in the household of the captain of the guard, because “the Lord was with Joseph” (v2).  When his master’s wife falsely accused him of rape, God was still with Joseph.  When he was thrown into prison, God was still with him and gave him favor.  When the cupbearer forgot about Joseph, God was still with him.

God’s “steadfast love” (v21) is not only displayed in our success and victories; his great love is also with us in suffering and difficulty.  He never leaves us.
