Genesis 40-43

“It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer” (41:16).  Joseph had changed from the boastful, self-centered young man who had provoked his brothers’ anger (ch 37).  Now, Joseph refused temptation even under great pressure (39:9), and he was also quick to give God glory.  He told the cupbearer that interpretations “belonged to God” (40:8), and now, in Pharaoh’s presence, he said it again.  God alone had power to save and deliver.

“God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction” (41:52).  Joseph could not control his circumstances, but he believed God was with him.  Even in his troubles, He chose to remain faithful to the Lord.
