Leviticus 23-24

“Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work” (23:3). The Mosaic Law gave the Israelites a structure for communal life that constantly reinforced their identity as God’s people.  The Sabbath required them to stop economic activity and remember God “in all your dwelling places” (23:3).  Religious festivals, sacrifice in the tabernacle, and laws about how to treat each other (ch 24) shaped every aspect of their lives: home, work, and worship.

“For I am the LORD your God” (24:22).  When we belong to Jesus, every part of life bows to His authority and example.  Our relationships, work, and worship proclaim He is King.
