Mark 5
/“And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran to him …” (v5). The demon-possessed man who lived among the tombs, cutting himself, ran to Jesus in desperation. Jairus came to Jesus for the sake of his daughter, and “implored him earnestly” (v23) to heal her. The woman with the issue of blood had “suffered much” (v26) and dared to touch Jesus, breaking societal rules. In every case, Jesus responded in compassion to those who – because they were desperate – recognized He was their only hope.
“Who touched me?” (v31). In our weaknesses and troubles, we see our need for Jesus clearly. When we reach out for Him, believing He is our hope, He responds with compassion and power.
