Mark 6:1-29

“And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them to take nothing for their journey …” (v7-8). Jesus gave the twelve the power they needed to extend His kingdom – power to preach repentance, to heal, and to cast out demons (v12-13).  In the world’s eyes, they were poor and weak, like John the Baptist who was killed because he pointed out Herod’s sin (v18). Yet the kingdom they preached would last forever.

“So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent” (v12). Those who believe Jesus’ kingdom lasts forever have the courage to speak and live today as His people.
