Numbers 19-20
/“And why have you made us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is no place for grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink” (20:5). The Israelites camped in a place without obvious signs of water. Instead of simply asking for what they needed, they complained, saying death would be better (20:3). Their accusations inflamed Moses’ anger, causing him to lash out, overshadowing the miracle of water from a rock.
“Tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water” (20:8). The Israelite’s fear and mistrust caused them to see Kadesh as “an evil place.” God wants us to trust, even when we can’t yet see His provision.
