Numbers 21-23
/“The LORD their God is with them, and the shout of a king is among them” (23:21-22). The rival king Balaak was threatened by movement of the people of Israel and the rumors of their victories over their enemies. He desperately tried to get the prophet Balaam to pronounce a curse over them, but Balaam could only speak blessings over God’s people. He had a long-term purpose for them (and blessing for the nations through them) which neither enemies nor spiritual curses could stop.
Paul reminded us, “if God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8). Neither human nor spiritual powers can stop God’s good purposes for us, His redeemed people.
