Psalm 31

“I had said in my alarm, ‘I am cut off from your sight.’ But you heard the voice of my pleas for mercy …” (v22).  The psalmist assures us that even when we feel “cut off” from God’s presence, the truth is that He is still with us.  When there is sickness, danger, and “terror on every side,” (v14), we can trust in the Lord who never leaves us.  On the cross, Jesus expressed this bedrock trust in the Father: “Into your hand I commit my spirit” (v5).

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD!” (v24).  We wait with courage and hope, knowing the Lord has our lives in His hands.
