Deuteronomy 5-7

“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery” (5:6).  As the Israelites were about to take possession of the land, Moses reminded them that their story started with God’s deliverance.  The God who freed them from slavery was the One telling them how to live; His rescue was the first step toward a better life in the Promised Land. Loving and obeying the Creator, walking according to His ways of justice and righteousness, was their calling in this land (6:1-7)

The God who delivers us from the power and penalty of sin calls us to live holy lives, so that “it may go well” with us (5:33).
