Deuteronomy 11-14
/“Take care lest your heart be deceived” (11:16). Before they even entered the Promised Land, Moses warned the Israelites about future temptation. God had clearly shown His love through the wilderness challenges (11:1-3), but when they settled down, they would be tempted to turn away and worship the idols of their neighbors. If they joined in the detestable acts of idolatry, they would forfeit God’s blessings and experience the curse of a broken relationship with Him (11:26-28). For this reason, God gave them guidelines about how to live differently (ch 14).
As God’s “treasured possession,” chosen in Christ, we bear His name in the world. We are called to think, speak, and act as Jesus’ ambassadors of a different Kingdom.
