Deuteronomy 20-21
/“And if a man has committed a crime punishable by death … and you hang him on a tree … you shall bury him the same day, for a hanged man is cursed by God” (21:22). The Law gave Israel a code for how to live as God’s people, and this guidance was a blessing. However, the Law could not make people holy; their constant sacrifices reminded them of their guilt. But when Jesus came and identified with sinners, accepting our guilt, becoming a curse for us, the power of sin was broken (Gal 3:13).
“The Law was our guardian until Christ came,” and now, by faith in Him, we are children of God and heirs of Abraham (Gal 3:24-29).
