Psalm 33

“Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be” (v8-9).  The purpose of all creation is to glorify God, to “shout for joy” and “praise Him” (v2-3).  The “plans of His heart” never change (v11); He made our world and desires to redeem it.  God calls us to turn away from the “false hope” of salvation through armies, human power, wealth, or ourselves (v17), and to “hope in his steadfast love” (v18).

“For our heart is glad in Him, because we trust in His holy name” (v21). Joy comes from fulfilling our purpose – trusting and glorifying our Creator.
