Luke 11

“Lord, teach us to pray” (v11). Jesus told his followers to address God as “Father,” trusting that He would both forgive and provide exactly what we need, as good earthly fathers do (v11). Jesus taught that God wanted a relationship with men and women that was based on inward sincerity and truth, rather than (v39) outward observance and cold, sinful hearts. Jesus condemned the Pharisees for this hypocrisy - parading around doing religious things to be seen by others, but neglecting “justice and the love of God” (v42).

“Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come” (v2). When we approach God sincerely, with open and humble hearts, we know He hears us.
