Deuteronomy 31

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you” (v6).  Moses knew that he would not lead the Israelites into the Promised Land; God was calling Joshua, the leader for a new generation (v2-3).  Moses reassured Joshua and the people that their success didn’t depend on a certain leader’s gifts, but on God’s presence among them. As they remained faithful to God’s ways (reading the law regularly, v11-13), they had nothing to fear.

“He will not leave you nor forsake you” (v6). Our security doesn’t depend on our ability to understand or manage the future, but on God’s faithfulness.  He goes before us and with us.
