Psalm 50
/“Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth” (v2). The psalmist warns us against letting our view of God’s holiness be compromised by lower human standards. “You thought that I was one like yourself” (v21). The Lord rebuked people who used religious language and offered sacrifices (v16) while ignoring His righteousness. “For you hate discipline … and you keep company with adulterers. You give your mouth free rein for evil …” (v16-19).
“To one who orders his way rightly, I will show the salvation of God!” (v23). The world tells us that our own desires should be our guide, but God’s holiness “shines forth” and is the standard that brings health and joy.
