Ezekiel 40-43

“And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east” (43:2). Ezekiel’s visions of a restored Temple – part of resurrecting Israel’s “dry bones” (ch 37) - culminated in the arrival of God Himself. It was never enough to free Israel from captivity or bring them back to their land; His real desire was to forgive and cleanse them so that they would be fit for fellowship with Him: “I will dwell in their midst forever” (43:9).

“Behold, the glory of the Lord filled the Temple” (43:5). The old Temple was temporary, but men and women who put their faith in Christ become “a holy Temple ... the dwelling place for God by the Spirit” forever (Ephesians 2:22).
