Jude
/“Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe” (v5). Referring to the Israelites who were rescued from Egypt but then rebelled, Jude warned believers to watch their own behavior. He condemned deceptive leaders who manipulated people for personal gain: “shepherds feeding themselves” (v12), “loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage” (v16). On the other hand, Jude recommends having “mercy on those who doubt” (v22-23).
Rather than excusing bad behavior, Jude tells us, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God” (v20-21).
