I John 2

“By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked” (v5-6). John explained that being “in Christ”, having fellowship with God by faith in Jesus’ sacrifice, means that we begin a new way of living (or ‘walking’) with Him. As we get to know our Savior, we begin to imitate his ways, especially the ‘new commandment’ of love (v3). In fact, there is no righteousness without love (v9). Our faith is evident by what we say and what we do (v23,29).

“Abide in Him” (v28). Because our sins are forgiven, we can have fellowship with God through Jesus and begin walking with Him.
