Psalm 140

“Guard me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet” (v4). Underneath the physical battles and enemies faced by the psalmist were the spiritual dangers faced by everyone. Like the psalmist we can call out to God for help as we confront the traps and pitfalls of life – temptations and conflicts, worries and sorrows (v5). “O LORD, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle” (v7).

“Deliver me, O Lord!” (v1). The Messiah came and experienced all our battles, and He is able to protect and help us in our time of need.
