Psalm 143

“I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land” (v6). In the depths of his despair, the psalmist reached out in desperation for the Lord. “Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul” (v8). When we feel under attack emotionally and spiritually – in darkness, crushed (v3) – we can trust God to lift our souls out of trouble (v11).

“Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!” (v10). God wants satisfy our thirst and to heal our emotions, so that we stand on level ground.
