II Chronicles 30-32

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed before the king of Assyria … for there are more with us than with him” (32:7). When the fierce Assyrian leader Sennacherib threatened Jerusalem, King Hezekiah was ready.  He had already led the people of Judah in repentance, a renewed Passover, and a rejection of the idols that had filled the land (ch 30-31). This spiritual revival meant that Hezekiah and the people knew the Lord and were prepared to trust Him.

“With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles” (32:8).  Idols always crumble and disappoint us, but God is our unfailing help and support.
