II Chronicles 33-36
/“For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father” (34:3). At sixteen King Josiah began to turn his heart toward the Lord. His great-grandfather Hezekiah had been a godly king, but Hezekiah’s descendants had returned to idolatry, witchcraft, and even child sacrifice. Young King Josiah – without many role models – began cleansing the land and repairing the Temple. When the Book of the Law was found, King Josiah mourned to see how far Israel had fallen.
“Because your heart was tender …” (34:27). Obedience and real transformation begin with soft hearts. When we reach out to the Lord, He helps us take the next step.
