Psalm 91

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty” (v1).  The psalmist understood that one of humanity’s deepest needs is for security, and we are only completely secure in the Lord’s hands. When “refuge and fortress” (v2), we can be sure that “under his wings” we will find refuge.  Surrounded by His loving care, the things we fear – sickness, enemies, disasters – can’t destroy us.  Now and beyond death, God promises to be our Father. “I will protect him, because he knows my name” (v14).

“I will be with him in trouble” (v15).  No matter what we walk through, Jesus is with us, and He has “overcome the world” (John 16:33).
