II Corinthians 8
/“Your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness” (v14). Paul urged the Corinthians to give to “the relief of the saints” (v7-15), trusting that their own future needs would be met. Paul reminded them that their gift was “acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have” (v12). Just as the Israelites gathered manna by faith, their own generosity flowed from God’s faithfulness to provide (v15).
“See that you excel in this act of grace also” (v7). Just as God calls us to serve Him through faith, speech and knowledge (v7), He calls us to practice cheerful generosity.
