Galatians 2:11-21

“… he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party” (v14).  Peter and other leaders had said that following Jewish ways was not necessary for salvation, but, under pressure, they fell back into patterns of prejudice and refused to eat with non-Jewish Christians (v11-14). Paul, fighting desperately for the truth of the gospel message, “opposed Peter to his face.” He reminded Peter that our former lives have been “crucified with Christ,” and we all – Jew and Gentile – live by faith alone (v20).

We are called to live “in step with the truth of the gospel” (v14).  What we believe must be echoed in our words, attitudes, and actions, so that Jesus can be seen in us.
